King Tutenkhamen in Dallas Museum

Since I was 16 years old ( the time I got my first Encyclopedia CD) I have been fascinated by the Ancient Egypt history. Things like they did more than 3 thousand years ago were truly amazing. Going through all the dynasty and diety names in their history, I felt like missing by not being a part of it.

I have been dreaming to be close to them by visiting museums. I first got the chance when I had a trip to Houston last winter. Houston has some place called "museum district" where they got bunch of rich museums. One of them had some mummies and stuffs ; I was fortunate enough not to miss them.

But I got the big news some time later- King Tutenkhamen himself is coming to Dallas ! King Tut is the most popular name among all other ancient egyptian figures. Because earlier on 20th century a British explorer called Howard Carter discovered King Tut's burial chamber which was completely safeguarded from the looters for more than 3 thousand years.

Anyway, I even got a better deal - our university offered 100 free tickets and free ride to the museum. I came to know about the offer late. So I ended up in the waiting list.

But I made the ride this friday :). After 2 hours of time ( waiting for the bus/riding the bus/waiting for the ticket/waiting one the queue) I got into the museum at last.

Quickly going through intial artifacts I had been expecting to see King Tut's mummy or may be even the golden mask. But I disappointed. I asked someone about that. She was like - "Those things are too fragile to move to places. So they are kept in Egypt".

But no wonder people are still buying the 32 dollar ticket to see all the artifacts or they maybe they expected the same as me and got disappointed in the end.

It felt like a good fortune for the museum itself. All the hypes about "King Tut visiting Dallas" and then selling 30 some dollar tickets and on the way out of the musem - you got to pass a gift store ! So it all comes to one point - "business".
